Cuba
It is with a mix of laughter and tears that we announce the passing of Larry Barnes.
Born in Olean, New York to James and Rosa (Perry) Barnes, he grew up in West Clarksville and graduated from Richburg Central School in 1961. He then enlisted in the United States NAVY and served aboard the USS Taussig from 1961-65. He was proud of his service even though he was seasick the whole time.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kauffman, and after experimenting briefly with city living spent the rest of his time in the Cuba area.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jim “Stub”, and good buddies Ed, Don, Bob, Red, and three Australian Shepards named Dave.
He reluctantly leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Sharon; his daughters Jodi and Leslie; much loved grandchildren Megan, Spencer, and Sloan; 5 amazing great grandchildren; his best friend and brother Bob; and the son he always wanted, Jerry.
A party to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, please stop by your local American Legion, order a Busch Light and give a toast to Larry.
Arrangements are under direction of the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc, Cuba.
