Winona M. Taylor
Beloved Mother and Friend
Winona M. Taylor, 79, of West Palm Beach and formerly of 19 Maple Street, Cuba, passed away Friday, March 21, 2015 at Hospice of Palm Beach County after a lengthy illness.

Born on May 14, 1935, in Cuba, New York she was the daughter of Frederick and Mabel Stohr Mortimer.

Winona was a graduate of Richburg Central School. After high school she worked as a secretary at Acme Electric for several years. She then graduated from New Penn School of Beauty in Olean and became a licensed cosmetologist. For 47 years she owned and operated Winona's Beauty Bar in Cuba.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba where she served as a trustee and sang in the choir. She was a member of McKee Chapter 212 Order of the Eastern Star where she held the office of Matron in 1960 in addition to holding other offices.

Winona had a great love for people, always making them feel special. Her smile was infectious and her laugh was full of life. She treated everyone like family, inviting many neighborhood children into her home where she would give them birthday cards and spoil them with dishes of candy or just offer her friends a cup of coffee and an attentive ear. She will be greatly missed. She loved her flower gardens and caring for her home, but her greatest joy was loving her family.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Kay) Taylor of West Palm Beach, FL, and David Taylor of Minneapolis, MN; a stepson, Robert (Rita) Taylor of Greenville, SC; a brother, John (Lois) Stohr of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Donna Moses of Denton, TX; a sister, June McCall Titus of Coco Beach, FL; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Bernadette) Taylor of Cuba, NY; two sisters-in-law, Norma Gallagher of Allegany, NY, and Roberta Jean Taylor of Olean, NY; a special friend who was like a daughter, Janet Rinker, Cuba, NY; a longtime friend and adoptive father to David and Michael, David C. Fischer of Jupiter, FL; a special friend who was like a son, James Riley of Orlando, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her longtime loving companion Hazen Taylor; two sisters, Frances McCall Bradock, and Lillian McCall; and two brothers Clyde and Steven Stohr.

There will be a memorial service in Cuba later this year at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Town of West Clarksville, New York.
