Ruth Jean Burt Rasmusson
Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother
Ruth J. Rasmusson, 82, of 43 East Main Street, Cuba passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 in Cuba Memorial Hospitals Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on April 1, 1933, in Cuba she was a daughter of Ernest and Marion DeWitt Burt. When born she only weighed two pounds and eight ounces but survived for 82 years. On September 28, 1951 in Cuba she married Robert D. Rasmusson her husband of 63 years who survives.

Ruth was a loving homemaker and her greatest joy was her family. She taught Sunday School in three different churches, had a Girl Scout Troop, worked as a teachers aide in Hilton, NY, and also volunteered for several organizations. One of her favorite memories was being the queen of the junior prom with her husband being king. Ruth was a 40 year cancer survivor.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce Rasmusson of Cuba, and Brian (Laurie) Rasmusson of Hilton, NY; two daughters, Susan (Rocky) Pilarascia of Rochester, and Sharry Semans (Howard Lauffer) of Mechanicsburg, PA; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Karen Burt of Buffalo, and Eleanor Torpey of Franklinville.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a twin brother Richard who died shortly after birth; a brother Ernest Burt, Jr.; and a sister Arlene Weirzbowski.

Friends will be received at the Cuba United Methodist Church, 49 East Main Street, Cuba on Monday, June 29, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Timothy Gleason, will officiate.
