Ruth F. Lewis, 95, of 8227 Spring Valley Road, Town of New Hudson, passed away, Monday, March 23, 2015 at Cuba Memorial Hospitals Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 29, 1919, in Litchfield, Michigan, she was a daughter of Edmund and Ethel Born Fish . On June 19, 1949 in Litchfield she married Richard M. "Dick" Lewis who predeceased her on November 10, 2011.

Ruth was a graduate of the Henry Ford School of Nursing and Hygiene Class of 1941. She had been enlisted in the Cadet Corps but was never called to serve.

She co owned and operated Lewis Trailer Sales in Black Creek for many years with her husband, sold antiques, and helped with her husband's radio repair business. She retired from Cuba Central School where she had been school nurse for many years.

She was a member of the Cuba Untied Methodist Church, McKee Chapter 212 Order of the Eastern Star since May 1966 and would have celebrated her 50th anniversary next year. She served as the chapter Matron for 1977 and 1978 and as the Allegany District Deputy Grand Matron in 1984. She held the office of ADAH for many years and could recite her part from memory well into her advanced age. She was a founding member of the Auxiliary to the New Hudson Fire Company, a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and its local group the Alle-Catts, and the Allegheny Mountain Engine and Implement Association. She was a former member of the Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Ruth enjoyed all types of needlework, search words, singing gospel music, traveling and camping, but most of all spending time with her family and grand children.

Surviving are three sons, Eric (Patty) Lewis of Fulton, Wayne (Pat) Lewis of Cuba, and Lloyd (Mary Lou) Lewis of Cuba; eight grandchildren, and nineteen great grand children; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Dale Lewis on January 13, 1973 a sister Doris Bennett, 3 half brothers Alvin, Ray, and Rex, and a half sister Velma.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 1-3 P.M. only at which time funeral services will be held. Pastor B. David Jones, of Belmont Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
