Robert N. “Bob” Jefferds

Robert N. "Bob" Jefferds, 81, of 464 Rte. 446, Cuba, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, after a challenging coexistence with type II diabetes.

Born on October 19, 1934, in Savona, New York, he was a son of Bruce and Adell Goodsell Jefferds. On August 25, 1984, in West Clarksville, New York, he married the former Margaret R. Very who survives.

Bob was a graduate of Alfred-Almond High School Class of 1953 and later attended Alfred State where he studied Agricultural Science.

He was owner of B&C Mobile Home Sales in Alfred Station for many years. He also owned BO-CH-DA-WM Farms for many years, raising registered Holstein Cattle. He then was an independent owner/operator of Jefferd's Trucking in the freight industry. He was last employed as a buying agent by M.R. Jefferd's Livestock of Cuba, until his passing.

He was a former member of the Almond Grange, and a current member of the Farm Bureau, Alfred-Almond Alumni Association, and the WNY Kidney Support Group. This year Bob celebrated his 27th year of life as a kidney transplant recipient. Bob was also a lifetime member of the National Dairy Shrine and in 2004 placed 10th overall in the country in the Hords Dairymen's cow judging contest.

Active in the communities he lived, Bob enjoyed helping the local fire departments raise money and served on various town committees. He loved reading ladies palms, quite often admitting to them it was just a way to hold a pretty ladies hand. Disgusted with the country's healthcare, Bob always remarked how in his final days he was going to go and die on Hillary's steps.

Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret of Cuba are two sons, David Jefferds of Scio, and Michael (Kristy Ellsworth) Jefferds of Cuba; two daughters, Stephanie (David) Dooren of Lunenburg, Mass., and Donna (Rodney) Crawford of Nacogdoches, TX; numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren; four brothers, Gary Jefferds of Almond, Don (Peg) Jefferds of Almond, Bruce (Abby) Jefferds of Belmont, and Norm Jefferds of Alfred Station; one sister, Joann Coon of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sons, Robert G. Jefferds, Charles Jefferds, and William Jefferds, and a sister Judy Torres.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Stan Scoville will officiate. It was Bob's wish that everyone dress informally and in comfortable clothes.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
