Richard W. “Dick” Abramowicz
Loving Father, Grandfather
Richard W. "Dick" Abramowicz, 80, of 5397 Hammond Road, Cuba, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Olean General Hospital's Emergency Room shortly after arrival.

Born on March 26, 1930, in Dunkirk, New York, he was a son of Vincent and Clara Rubicki Abramowicz. On March 26, 1951, in St, Mary's Church, Dunkirk, he married the former Marilyn R. Wells who predeceased him May 13, 2008.

Mr. Abramowicz served in the United States Army from 1951-1954.

Richard graduated from RIT in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and shortly there after moved to Cuba where he began working for Acme Electric for the next twenty years. He then started this own business, Richmar Images that became a well-known engraving and rubber stamp making company for many years.

For a short period of time he also co owned and operated M&R liquors with his wife and later helped operate the Main Place Restaurant of Cuba with his children.

He enjoyed playing poker in the Monday afternoon poker club, golfing, spending time with his family and in his younger years playing basketball and hunting.

Surviving are his two children, Richard V. "Rick" Abramowicz of Angelica, and Susan J. (Robert Conley) Ward of Cuba; his three grandchildren, Max and Richelle Ward and Betsy Abramowicz; and two great grandkids Nicholas Speta and Colin Keech; his twin brother, Raymond (Delores) Abramowicz of Dunkirk; a sister, Virginia Pasierb of Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Pasierb (brothers married sisters).

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
