Richard H. Truax, Jr., of 9084 Beebe Hill Road, Cuba, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness.
Born on August 21, 1931, in Genesee, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Richard H. and Laura M. (Spencer) Truax, Sr. On November 30, 1951, in Franklin, Kentucky, he married the former Ruby E. Gore who predeceased him on November 15, 2024, and they were married for 74 years.
Dick was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1949. After high school he worked several years for Farnsworth Cookies.
From 1950-52 he served in the United States Army Airborne Infantry Badgiment Combat Unit 503 as a paratrooper.
Dick was an Archway Cookie Distributor from 1957-1994.
Serving his community, he was a trustee at the former West Clarksville Baptist Church and Obi Community Church. He also served on the Cuba Board of Assessors from 1981-2021.
In 1963, he built his home on Beebe Hill Road and enjoyed woodworking, farming, and raising beef cattle.
He is survived by a son, Ronald (Aprille) Truax of Clarksville; two daughters, Rhonda (Daniel) Carrier and Rachelle Evans, both of Cuba; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a great grandson Teagan Oliver Michael Fox, and his siblings John Truax, Phillip Truax, and Patricia Drake.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street Cuba, on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 1-3 P.M., with his funeral beginning at 3 P.M. The Rev. David Cook, will officiate.
Burial with full military honors, will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, New York. Following the burial there will be a dinner at Obi Community Church.
