Pauline B. Dean, 88, of 9387 Watt Rd., Cuba, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Olean General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on February 14, 1928, in Olean, she was a daughter of Clifford and Lena Treusdell Bidwell. On October 4, 1947, in the Eldred Free Methodist Church, she married her husband of 68 years Fred F. Dean who survives.

Pauline had been employed in the offices of Cuba Cheese for 33 years, worked for Acme Electric for 10 years and then for Rehabilitation Today of Cuba for several years. She was currently employed by Cross Tex (Sterilator Company) of Cuba.

Mrs. Dean was a former member of the Cuba Presbyterian Church and later was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church. She was also a member of McKee Chapter 212 O.E.S. having held ever star position and office within the Chapter, was Worthy Matron numerous times, and was presently holding the office of Conductress. Pauline was formerly the District Deputy Grand Matron for Allegany District, and was formerly an Associate Grand Marshall Order of the Eastern Star State of New York.

Pauline loved to go camping, gardening, and spending time with her family. She and her husband were previous owners of Breezy Point Campground and members of the Alle-Catt. Campers Association.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Alvin J. (Kristine) Dean of Utica, and John Dean of Cuba Lake; two daughters, Vicki (Jim) Schleigh, and Bonnie (Monte) Richmond both of Cuba; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Carol) Bidwell of Rew, PA; two sisters in law, Caroline Bidwell, and Janet Bidwell; a brother in law, John Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter Debra Dean; two brothers Malcolm Bidwell and Keith Bidwell; and two sisters Delores Jones and Joanne Baker.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 and on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 10-11 A.M. at which time funeral services will be held.

Members of McKee Chapter 212 O.E.S. will assembly in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:45 P.M. for funeral services.

The Rev. John M. Woodring will officiate.

Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
