Linda E. Thornton, 75, of 19 Champlain Ave., Cuba, and formerly of Belmont, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Cuba Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on October 18, 1947, in Cuba, she was a daughter of Larry and Eleanor Burt Torpey.
Linda was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1965. In 1969, she graduated from SUNY Brockport with her Bachelors degree in Education. She had worked in various positions at Belmont Central School prior to her retirement.
Her greatest joy in life was her grandson, Joey.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Torpey of Franklinville; her grandson, Joey Zajicek of Iowa; a sister, Carol Lisi of Olean; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a daughter Lisa Zajicek in 1994 and two sisters Nancy Swift and Judy Torpey.
The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10-11:00 A.M. at which time funeral services will be held. Pastor Claudia Little, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
