Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother
Jeanette D. Hughes, 73, of Cuba, NY passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 7, 2012 at home.

Born on March 17, 1939, in Lackawanna, NY, she was a daughter of Bruce and Mary Kelsey Colley. On September 5, 1959, in St. Jude's Episcopal Church, South Buffalo, she married Arthur G. Hughes who passed away November 18, 2009.

Jeanette was a graduate of Frontier High School Class of 1956. Mrs. Hughes worked a short time for Bethlehem Steel in Buffalo but most was a happy homemaker and loving wife for her family.

She was a Rotary Ann in Cuba for many years and received the Paul Harris Fellowship award for her service. For many years she enjoyed being part of the Show Time productions that the Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary hosted. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Blasdell, NY Chapter.

Mrs. Hughes was an avid golfer, liked to read, garden, travel south in the winter, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children Cynthia (Frank) Haas, Dwayne (Sandra) Hughes, Dawn Kelley all of Cuba, and Tina (Kurt) Thomas of Ridgway, Pa.; her grandchildren Brandon, Corey, and Heather Haas, Bryant and Cody Hughes, Shawn Numeracki, Shawn, Jenni, and Brooke Thomas, Alycia and Kayla Kelley; her great grandchildren, Jordyn and Braydan Numeracki, and Elin Simons; two brothers, Paul (Joan) Colley of Orchard Park, and David Colley of Blasdell; three sisters, Barbara Kelsey of Lousiville, KY, Virginia Ritts of Largo, FL, and Mary Lou Young of East Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother Bruce Colley in March of 2012.

The family will receive friends at Christ Episcopal Church, South Street, Cuba, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 3-5 P.M. at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Marian Schneider, of the Allegany County Episcopal Ministries will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Jeanettes name may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, South Street, Cuba, NY 14727 or to the Cuba Circulating Library, 39 East Main Street, Cuba, NY 14727.
