Jacob W. “Jack” Loiacono, 82, of Cuba, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester after a brief illness.
Born on December 27, 1943, in Buffalo, he was a son of Raymond and Angeline (Galbo) Loiacono. On October 12, 1963, in Buffalo, he married the former Dolores M. Giancarlo who survives.
Jack was a graduate of Lafayette High School. After high school he served in the National Guard.
Following his military service, he began his professional life as an orderly at Buffalo General Hospital. He soon found his true calling in craftsmanship at Ray Crinzi Jewelers, where he apprenticed to become a skilled bench jeweler. This experience laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial spirit; he later opened Jack Loiacono Jewelers in the Ellicott Square Building, a business he proudly owned and operated for 30 years.
Upon moving to the Southern Tier, he continued his work in the jewelry industry with Reeds Jewelers, first in Olean and later as the manager of their Great Northern Mall location in Syracuse. He concluded his working career as a packer at Cutco in Olean.
An avid outdoorsman, he was truly at home in the woods. He found great peace in hunting and took immense pride in tending to his property, a labor of love that included cutting firewood throughout every season of the year.
Beyond his time in nature, he enjoyed bowling and the simple joy of dancing with his wife to the music of Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his wife, Dee, he is survived by two sons Jacob W. Loiacono, Jr., and Guy Charles Loiacono, both of Cuba; his grandchildren; Josh, Lindsay, Kyle, Gianna, and Guy, Jr.; a brother Gerald (Jean) Loiacono of Cuba; a sister Shirley Cala of Angola; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Raymond Guy Loiacono.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.
