Edward R. Berry Jr.
Edward R. Berry, Jr., 91, of 8708 Jackson Hill Rd., Friendship passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 21, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was a son of Edward R. and Edith Pope Berry. On August 24, 1946, in Waban, Massachusetts he married the love of this life Eunice M. Miller who survives.

Mr. Berry served in the United States Army from May 22, 1942 until November 2, 1945. While enlisted he served in Australia and New Guinea. He received the American Campaign Medal, One Bronze Star for the New Guinea Campaign, the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. After he was discharged he worked for the Pentagon until he contracted malaria.

He had worked at the Boston Symphony but eventually continued his schooling at the Bryant and Stratton school receiving a degree in business.

In 1957 he went to work for the Newton Wellesley Bank in Waban Massachusetts as was branch manager when he retired in 1985. He and his wife then moved to the Cuba area to be closer to family.

One of Mr. Berry's favorite things about the area was being able to look out of his window and see Cuba lake and the natural beauty that surrounded it. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, playing tennis, hockey, and golfing.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are one daughter, Beverley Jean (Donald Costa) Berry of Cranston, RI; one grand daughter, Nicolette Chalifoux of Cranston, RI; and two nephews, Richard B. Harris, and C.E. Harris.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Edith Berry Harris.

At Mr. Berry's request there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Newton Centre, Massachusetts.
