Great Grandfather and Brother

Donald S. Becker, 74, of 11 Pennsylvania Ave, Friendship and formerly of Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home.

Born on April 3, 1937, in Olean, New York he was a son of Norman and Genevieve Smith Becker. On August 3, 1963, in Black Creek, New York he married the former Linda E. Poore who predeceased him on June 22, 1994.

Mr. Becker served in the United States Navy from October 27, 1955 until October 26, 1961. While he enlisted he was stationed in Turkey, Italy, and spend time in other Mediterranean and European ports.

He lived in Cuba for many years but eventually settled in Clarksville, TN with his wife. While in Clarksville he managed rental properties until his wife passed away. He moved to Friendship in 2005 for retirement. For a short period of time he was in charge of maintenance at the Friendship Country Estates where he made his home.

Donald enjoyed working on motors and restoring antique tractors with his brother Ted, and deeply cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He also loved being outdoors and the family picnics.

Surviving are one son, Alan (Diane) Becker of Lancaster, OH; two daughters, Barbara (Jeffrey) Hampshire of Cuba, and Jennifer (Wesley) Maynard of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Ryan Hampshire, Brittany (Timothy) Armstrong, Adam Hampshire, and Holly Hampshire; a great granddaughter, Edie Pietrkiewicz; three sisters, Norma Vogel Andrus of Black Creek, Dorothy Tredway of Black Creek, and Carolyn (Stanley) Burrell of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his brother Theodore J. "Ted" Becker on August 11, 2011.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Graveside Memorial Service on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Cuba Cemetery, Medbury Avenue, at which time full military honors, accorded by member of the Friendship American Legion Post 1168 will take place.
