Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother
Donald P. Lawton, 71, of 2555 Foster Hollow Rd, New Market, Tennessee, passed away Monday, January 18, 2015 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born on February 8, 1944, in Cuba, he was a son of Daniel B. and Lucile Mabey Lawton. On Dec. 29, 1979, in Caneadea, New York he married the former Donna M. Rechin who predeceased him on April 7, 2013.

Don went to Cuba Central School and later served in the U.S. Army from March, 1967 to March, 1969 completing a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 101st. Airborne Division, which he was very proud of, he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal,, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He then served another eight years with the Army National Guard, Buffalo, NY obtains the rank of sergeant.

Don was a charter member of the Cuba VFW post 2721 and a member of the American Legion post 0113, Jefferson City, Tennessee.

He was Union member of The Brotherhood of the International Operating Engineers, Local # 17, Buffalo, NY for 44 years, retiring from Buffalo Crushed Stone and moving to Tennessee in 2010.

Don is survived by a son, Troy Lawton of Belmont; a daughter, Lisa (Ben) Sweet of New Market, TN; his grandchildren, Brandynn Bryanna, Antoinette, and Charleigh; a great grandson, Clifford; brothers, John (Ann) Lawton of Englewood, FL, and David (Janice) Lawton of Bolivar; a sister, Barbara (Noble) Brann Jr. of Callao, VA; a brother-in-law, James Tait of Elma; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister Julia Tait.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. David Lawton, Don's brother will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
