Dennis J. Allen, 87, of 2576 Rte. 305, West Clarksville, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Hart Comfort House of Allegany County after a battle with cancer.

Born on November 15, 1926, in Cuba, NY he was a son of Daniel and Clara Williams Allen. On January 22, 1949, in West Clarksville he married the former Edwina M. Speta who survives.

Dennis was drafted into the United States Army serving in the Asian Pacific Theater from November 11, 1946 until November 10, 1949.

He attended grade school in West Clarksville and for many years worked for AVX in Olean. In his younger years he also farmed. He enjoyed music, especially polkas and was gifted at playing the organ and accordion.

He was a elder of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Cuba Congregation.

Surviving are his children Christine (John) Vybiral of California, Timothy (Jean) Allen of Belfast, and Mike (Sue) Allen of Arcade; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Burton Allen of California, and Daniel (Cathy) Allen of Cuba; four sisters, Shirley Perry of Cuba, Lois Galati of West Seneca, NY, Rachael (Doug) Clayson of Franklinville, and June (Buck) Jordan of Middleport, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother DuWayne Allen.

A Memorial Service will be held at the New Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4258 Rte. 16, Hinsdale on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. Elder Zane Keniston will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Hart Comfort House of Allegany County, 141 East State St., Wellsville, New York 14895.
